I knew you guys would bring the party!” - Nigel Bird (WAM)

Dave Rastrix & Friends' mission is to play their fun and inspiring original and classic songs of love, revolution and freedom at festivals, venues and parties - wherever people are keen to dance and have a good time!

Dave Rastrix & Friends are are reggae band based in south-west Australia. The group plays uplifting reggae for dancing; the music of love, revolution, freedom and compassion, with a mix of classic and original songs. Dave Rastrix & Friends - based in Great Southern Western Australia, Reggae icon Bob Marley once said that all styles of music can fit into reggae, and this West Australian group does just that, mixing funk, jazz, soul, world music and even hard rock into their sound along with classic reggae based styles such as roots reggae, Ska, dub.

A recent name change marks the transition to having a flexibly sized line-up, depending on the occasion and location; duo, trio, small or larger band are now available. Dave Rastrix' trumpet weaves soulful spells, with special effects making the instrument sound like you've never quite heard it before.  Depending on the ensemble, you'll hear vocals, guitars, drum-kit, basses, keyboards and percussion; all contributing to getting people’s feet moving.

Dave Rastrix & Friends, previously known as Rastatrix, have released multiple recordings including "Business As Usual" - a rockin' song calling for action on climate change, in the face of the Australian government's inaction, and "Earth Roots Reggae" - a roots reggae tune, with some dub and jazz-reggae thrown into the mix - a song for the Earth!  Both songs were recorded by Rastatrix at Imocean Studio in Busselton, Western Australia. Rastatrix' 2017 recording “Clarity” featured on WAM's Sounds of the Great Southern compilation, the Kiss my WAMi compilation album, and the Fairbridge Festival compilation.
